Sexual assault is a crime of power and control.  It is NEVER the victim's fault.

Some forms of sexual assault include:

Penetration of the victim’s body, also known as rape

Attempted rape

Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetrating the perpetrator’s body

Fondling or unwanted sexual touching

Specific laws can vary by state, but sexual assault generally refers to any crime in which the offender subjects the victim to sexual touching that is unwanted, offensive, and is non-consensual.  All states prohibit this type of assault; however, the exact definitions of the crimes differ from state to state.
